How and when should I make my reservation?

Make your reservation as soon as you know you have the time available and have a deposit to guarantee your place on the tour.  There are 3 ways you can make your reservation:
1. Book online via our website using a credit or debit card. Just click on the 'Book A Tour' button on the left side of your screen.
2. Print a booking form from our website and mail it to the address at the top of the form with a check or money order.
3. Sign up by calling our office 1-800-819-7683 with a credit or debit card.

Do I have to pay for my tour in full when I make my reservation?

NO!
Most of our trips require just a $50 deposit to guarantee your place with the remaining balance being due 3 weeks before the tour leaves. On our longer tours (Totally California, for example) a $100 deposit is needed and the remaining balance must be in our office no later than 6 weeks before departure.

Check out our E-Z Pay Plan and pay a little each week!

Can my friends/parents/boyfriend join a Cultural Hi-Ways tour?

While our tours are designed for 18-28 year olds, we are happy to make special arrangements for family members 18 and over who would like to join our tour but do not fall within the age bracket we serve.

As the majority of our guests are 18-28 year old females, they expect to share a room with other females around the same age.  We will happily welcome boyfriends, brothers and parents but ask that you either find 2 other guests who are happy to share a room with you or call our office and get the double or triple price for the tour.  That way, by paying just a little more you can have a room for just the 2 or 3 people of your choice.

Can I sign up for a tour even if I don't know anyone else who is going?

Of Course! We will be happy to place you in a room with 3 other guests of the same gender.

Many of our guests tell us that at first they didn't know anyone on the tour, but ended up having a great time!  Cultural Hi-Ways tours are a great way to meet new friends - what's more - our tours are safer than going to unfamiliar places by yourself.  Click here to read more.

What are the sleeping arrangements for the tour?

Our usual sleeping arrangements are based on 'quad' occupancy; that is  4 guests of the same gender sharing 1 room with 2 double beds. By doing this we are able to keep the price as low as possible while still staying in quality hotels.  Please call our office if you would like the triple, double or single price for a tour.

The Totally California Plus tour is for a 'small independent group of travelers' - what does this mean?

The itinerary for our Totally California tour is so thoroughly organized that you'll be able to spend your vacation without a Cultural Hi-Ways tour manager.   One week before the tour departs you will receive an envelope in the mail that will have all the information you'll need for your entire trip including a detailed itinerary.  You will also be sent the names and e-mail addresses of the other guests signed up for the trip so you can start making friends before you leave! Traveling as a small independent group simply means that the trip is so well organized that you will be able to travel without a tour manager.

Sign up with friends or make some along the way!

I'm thinking of taking your Totally California tour. Can I contact someone who has already gone on this trip to get their impressions?

Yes! Please e-mail our office (HiWays@comcast.net) and we will be happy to send you a list of au pairs who have allowed us to pass on their e-mail addresses to anyone wanting to ask them about their California experience with Cultural Hi-Ways.
