Getting to Washington, DC
As this is a "Get There On Your Own Tour", transportation to/from Washington, DC is not included in the price of the tour. This allows you total freedom and flexibility to decide how and when you will travel to the city and opens up the tour to au pairs living across the United States.  Detailed information will be provided to help direct you from where you arrive (airport, bus or train station) to our hotel.  A Cultural Hi-Ways representative will meet you at the hotel on Friday evening.

Tour Itinerary

 
►Friday, November 25, 2011  
Arrive in Washington, DC according to your own travel plans.  You may choose to arrive at any time during the day.  Official check in at the Hilton Arlington Hotel begins at 3pm, but you may choose to arrive early.  If you arrive at the hotel early, give your luggage to the bellman and he will store it until you can check in. While you await the arrival of the Cultural Hi-Ways buses from the Metro New York area and your tour manager, you may choose to explore Washington, DC , shop at the mall attached to our hotel, or follow some of the suggestions we will provide.   

At approximately 6:30pm, your tour manager will meet you in the hotel lobby for a welcome gathering.   You are free for the evening to relax and enjoy DC on your own.

 
►Saturday, November 26, 2011  
Today you will be treated to a tour of Washington, DC.  Bring your camera and comfortable walking shoes!   Later in the afternoon, you might like to take some time to explore the Smithsonian Institute - the World's largest museum complex.  This evening you are free to enjoy DC's exciting nightlife.  Georgetown is a great place to visit as you'll find numerous restaurants, cafes and nightclubs.  A great place to people watch!

 
►Sunday, November 27, 2011  

Feel free to do any last minute exploring before departing Washington, DC. You will need to check out of your room by noon, then hop on the subway/metro to travel back to the airport, bus or train station and depart according to your own travel plans.  Have a safe trip!
